Piura-Maryland Sister State Mission – October 2019

The Maryland-Piura Sister States Committee will be traveling to Peru from October 9th to October 20th to forge initiatives in commerce, education, tourism, health, and other areas. This mission will be attended by Deputy Secretary of State, Luis Borunda.

In Callao, the Committee has planned a meeting with the Governor of Callao, Dante Mandrioti, to share their experience in citizen diplomacy, where citizens are the protagonists of change to strengthen partnerships at the international level.

In Lima, the Committee will meet Congressmen of Piura to exchange ideas on the mission, vision, and objectives of the Sister States Program in Perú.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and his then-counterpart in Piura Reynaldo Hilbck Guzmán signed on December 21, 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which was ratified in January by his successor Servando García Correa.
